April 12 I am giving a presentation at the ETH Meets California event. I will be presenting AtlantikSolar, the record-plane developed by my ETH colleagues and myself the previous years. Below a video for the presentation. Get our open-source code and have a look at our new video for autonomous exploration. Open Source Repository of the NBVPlanner: Relevant paper:
A fruitfull start for 2016! We just received the ICRA 2016 notifications - the following papers are accepted and will be presented:
While, I am also co-organizing the following half-day workshop:
My lab at the University of Nevada, Reno just welcomed two very important additions. Specifically,
Dr. Christos Papachristos joined us a Postdoctroal Researcher. Dr. Papachristos has a very strong academic background in the fields of perception and control for aerial robotics. Check his scholar page following this link. Shehryar Masaud joined us as a PhD coming from KAIST, Korea and will work on the problem of advanced aerial robotics autonomy by actively closing the perception and planning loops. Our paper: A. Bircher, K. Alexis, U. Schwesinger, S. Omari, M. Burri and R. Siegwart "An Incremental Sampling–based approach to Inspection Planning: the Rapidly–exploring Random Tree Of Trees", submitted to the Robotica Journal (under minor revision) Just got accepted! The video below presents indicative experimental inspection path planning results. The video below presents the work primarily authored by C. Papachristos and co-authored by D. Tzoumenikas, L. Zikou and myself and will be presented at ISVC on 14 of December 2015 at Las Vegas, US. The ETH team got the following paper accepted at IEEE AeroConf 2016. It describes the perpetual flight capabilities as proven using the AtlantikSolar UAV in its 28h flight last summer:
We are happy to report that "Discovery News" made a video and post about AtlantikSolar! Solar-powered aerial robots are raising more and more attention! #FutureIsClean
