Just came back from the European Robotics Forum (http://www.erf2015.eu/) at Vienna. I presented AEROWORKS in the Aerial Manipulation workshop as well as in the sequences of pitch presentations at the relevant event organized by the European Commission. In addition, together with my colleague Margarita Chli we gave a short pitch video for Robohub. Below you can find the main AEROWORKS presentation for this year's ERF as well as the Robohub video.

A warm and "robotic" Merry Christmas by our robots at the Autonomous Systems Lab! This is the outcome of the great effort of the ASL team! Our team came back from the SHERPA project integration week at University of Twente, NL. We demonstrated an autonomous AtlantikSolar flight under extreme wind conditions while we had the opportunity to watch a demonstration of the amazing robird from clearflightsolutions!
Our new Horizon2020 project, AEROWORKS, got accepted! AEROWORKS aims to develop a collaborative team of a new class of robots we call "Aerial Robotic Workers". The following presentation gives a glimple of the project goals.
Our team came back from the ICARUS Project new UAV Field-Trials in Marche-en-Famenne, Belgium. The following videos presents a subset of our ASL Fixed Wing activities during this public demonstration day. A relevant post can be found on the ICARUS website while more information and datasets will be released soon. Noteworthy, approximately 15 robots participated in an integrated way during this demo! Our paper "Model predictive quadrotor control: attitude, altitude and position experimental studies, K. Alexis, G. Nikolakopoulos, A. Tzes, IET Control Theory & Applications, Volume 6, issue 12, August 2012, p. 1812 - 1827" gained the "IET 2014 Premium Award for Best Paper in Control Theory & Applications".
Our work on fixed-wing UAVs was selected to be among the “Success Stories” on the SPARC - The Partnership for Robotics in Europe - website. Check it out!
Our team came back from the ICARUS Project UAV Field-Trials at CTC - Barcelona. Two videos that present our ASL Fixed-Wing team Field Trials at the CTC UAV Test Site in Barcelona may be found below while the relevant post on the ICARUS website is found here. The next-stop for our ICARUS team is the public field trials at Marche-en-Fammene test-area, Brussels, Belgium where the project Land/Air collaborative capabilities demonstration will take place. Stay tuned! Our chapter on "Flying Robotics" for the new version of the Handbook of Robotics edited by Bruno Siciliano and published by Springer has been submitted! The new version of the book is expected to be available by ICRA 2015! Check the previous version of the book here. This book chapter was written as the collaborative effort of several people from our lab, Stanford and University of Drexel (complete authors list: S. Leutenegger, C. Huerzeler, A. K. Stowers, K. Alexis, M. Achtelik, D. Lentink, P. Oh and R. Siegwart)
Our paper "G. Darivianakis, K. Alexis, M. Burri, R. Siegwart, "Hybrid Predictive Control for Aerial Robotic Physical Interaction towards Inspection Operations", IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, ICRA 2014, Hong Kong, China, May 31-June 7, 2014" was selected as a finalist for the Best Automation Paper Award! |
Kostas AlexisI try to post basic updates here! Before August 2015, all posts appear to have happened the same day. This is due to moving my website. Archives
